motorola e815

I finally end the most horrable contract with nextel 2 weeks ago and went with verizon and got a nice deal 2 motorola E815 with bluetooth heads sets for 90 bucks with a 50 mail in rebate sounds good right wrong. This is the biggest piece of **** phone ever.

1 the phone doesnt stay in belt clip at all just falls out when walking .

2 dents and scratches easy, from just placing it in cup holder in the truck dent and scratched the **** of the screen now I could see if I threw it in there but just setting it in there come on.

3. Battery life sucks. Even when its set on battery saver it still goes dead by the time I leave work.

4. The bluetooth were to start on that one. 1 half the time the phone cant find the headset. 2 the phone will loose signal with it in the middle of a conversion hanging up the call. 3 with the bluetooth mode turn on in the phone better have a charger near by.

5. no auto key pad lock. Have to manual locks the keys. If I dont the **** thing will make phone calls using the voice command.

6. The camera or lack of it because it doesnt take a picture to save itself. I know camera phones dont take the best pics. but mine you cant even see wtf you just took a pic of.

all in all I love the service but I hate the phone. I am going to try and get a different on monday after work.

I've had that phone for over a year now...
The only scratches mine has are from dropping in the parking lot.
I dont like how the screen gets greasy (I dont put anything on my hair and wash daily)
The battery life is about 6 days without much calling.
or 2-3 days with several hours of talking.

Not sure if you just got a bum one or what.. but this phone is MUCH
better than any of my nokia's ever were.

I read great things about the e815 also. The only complaints I ever saw were that Verizon disabled/crippled the bluetooth functionality of the phone so they could make you use their network functions to transfer your pictures and such. Pissed me off enough to where I won't buy verizon because they intentionally hinder phones so they can make money. I was sold on the phone, not the service. See if you can't get it fixed under warranty.

Exactly. I'm happier with my SE s710a though. It turns alot of heads, and I prefer Cingular to Verizon any day.

i've had a e815 for almost a year now, i use it quite often and it gets beat up a fair amount at work. I have a cover on it and it definately helps but it has minimal scratches, takes pictures better than i expected, and the battery life is still just as good as the day i bought it. I charge it about twice a week. I'm not into the whole bluetooth thing so I can't help ya there. sounds like you got a lemon though.

well I am stuck with this phone for now because the guy sold it to me wasnt working today and other sales person wouldnt do anything bout it. but we will see if I cant get atleast a new one some time this week or a different one.

As for the bluetooth its quite nice for me seening as I work really close to the city and you have to have hands free or pay a heavty fee and it being wireless is less crap to get caught in the seat belt.

i bet its your particular fone. if you search google, ull see that the E815 is a hit an miss type deal. those who miss get a great phone, those who hit get a crappy phone that messes up alot/ poor workman ship. i have a phone thats right on that line. heres the low down with my e815.

charging it turned into a real chore. i would plug it in, and it would "reboot" until it was completely dead and then wouldnt charge at all. I managed to get a ahold of a desktop charger, and bout an extended use battery on ebay, and now all those problems went away. works quite well. as soon as the battery gets low, swap batteries, and i have a full charge in under a minute. given its a lil more of a "hassle" but my charges last a good 3-4 days on each battery.

now, this hacking bit, i spent 4 days trying to get the phone to sync with my puter., HA! well i tried on my dads computer once and it synced instantly, no prob, you download the files off the phone, change like 3 characters, roload the files back onto the phone and you now have full blue tooth capability. i love it. while the phone does take crappy pics in general, a few pics do turn out better that id expect. and with full blue tooth capabilities, i can take all the pics i want, and it takes like 2 minutes to transfer4 them to my pc, free of charge.

oh and i love how its big and heavy, feels like a phone, not like a toy like every other itty bitty cellphone out there.

as far as calling with the side buttons, look in ur manual, u can disable that, i know, i did it.

All I can say is everyone complains about nextel, but as you can see the grass is not always greener on the other side. I know the nextel service isnt the greatest but you all companies have there issues good and bad.
