2000 Ranger XLT
Here is my 2000 Ranger XLT that I recently bought. 3.0, auto, with 76K actual miles. The cruise control isn't working and today I replaced the controls on the steering wheel. Still no joy. Next, I'll check the switch on the master cylinder and then on to the brake pedal switch.

Welcome to the forum
Yes, +1, nice looking Ranger
If its your first 3.0l Vulcan engine, just a heads up, it makes best torque/power at 3,500-4,000rpm, most engines do that at 2,500rpms
Its designed that way
So if you drive at lower RPMs you will be disappointed in the power, it would be EXACTLY like driving another engine around at 1,500rpm
Since you have an automatic and its shift points in the computer were not changed that much from the 4.0l or 2.3l don't be afraid to down shift if you feel the need for more power

Well, it turns out that the steering wheel controls had made the cruise control operational. I was expecting the indicator light in the dash to come on when I pushed the On button. I was on my way to the parts store to get the master cylinder switch. I pushed the on button, no light in the dash. I pushed the Set button and there's the light! The cruise control was working! All controls are now working.
This is my first Ranger, first Ford since 1975. I just didn't understand how things work on the Ranger.
