Can't catch a break!

So I was standing in the post office yesterday and a guy pokes his head in and says, hey buddy you're trucks been hit. I look out the window and I see a big farm truck sitting over the bed of my truck. Apparently the guy didn't have the tranny in park and it rolled down hill. Surprised it didn't do any more damage than it did. Going Monday to the body shop to see what they can do. I'm thinking just getting a whole new bed.

That's better than bondo which is going to be a big NO. From the way the insurance company sounded, they're just gonna pay what the shop bills them. I got to pick the shop so i'll see what they can do for me.

Yeah you won't be getting an entire bed lol.

EDIT: In my experience bondo (if done right) is typically better than those aftermarket bedsides they use. The aftermarket fenders and bedsides they use never line up right.

make sure you get your axle checked out. Tell em to bill the insurance for it, don't want to learn some seal was broken if your truck got pushed a few inches.

You might ask the insurance company to cut you a check after getting a quote for the work, new parts, and the inspection. Then find yourself a cheap bed somewhere from a private seller, have it painted, etc...

Sorry to hear that man.

My Bronco was rear ended 4 or so years ago, and the body shop tried putting on salvaged tailgates. Few of them even had small spots of rust starting. Well, my Bronco (at the time) was pretty much spotless so I made sure they put on a brand new tailgate.

Make sure they do it right, and make it the same, or better then it was before it was hit. Thats your right. It pisses me off when someone else messes up something you maintain so meticulously and then the insurance company tries to rip you off by getting the shop to do faulty work.

Well the insurance company isn't sending out an adjuster to estimate the damage. I'm just taking it to a shop I chose and they will send them a bill.

WOW!! that sucks, but amazed thats all it did!! actually that wont be hard to fix....what they'll do is drill some holes in the dent, pop out with a dolly tool. and smooth back out with very little spot putty and repaint/blend the bed side. no bondo needed!! LOL!!
