SNOW!

SNOW!
We got a few more inches up in the mountains last night, so I thought (since I ran out of work inside to do, and it's about 3 degrees plus wind today) I would go check it out.
Ended up at a cross road on the trail leading either down a road with no recent tracks, or up.
Figured I better test out low range:
I wasn't at the end, but after trying for ten minutes to get past this hump (I got over it, but as soon as I got to the other side, my truck tried to go down the mountain off the side rather then down the road), I decided to turn around.
So I headed up the trail. Saw some cool stuff that I didn't bother taking pictures of because I couldn't get any good angles with my little camera.
Ended up upon some logging equipment, though:
And of course, they took their keys, so I wasn't able to move anything so I could get through.
Yes, I did try driving up the hill I was standing on. No clearance for a large stump in the middle of it :(
And on the way up, I had missed this view for some reason, but caught it on the way down:
And the last picture. Had to get one of the snow I collected:

Then again, the wind has been pretty brutal for the last few days. Even up there, it was howling pretty good. I was all bundled up.

And your coastal snow was probably real wet, huh? The stuff up on the mountain was super dry and soft. Knocking my shoes off before getting in made all the snow on me fall off rather then have the normal sticky crap.
I wish I still had my ski's. This winter would have been good skiing.

The second to last picture is actually the lens cover dealy on my camera. Every once in a while when it tuns on, the little lens cover doesn't open all the way.

The stuff I was caught in on the coast was HARD HAIL... that hurts like a b*tch when it comes in through the guard of your helmet... I felt like I was driving through a rock storm... atleast I had my goggles on which is more than I can say for Shane... hehe

Any time you want to come out, let me know. Actually, I may have to smuggle you out of WA after I come out there soon. Working on the Ranger this weekend (hopefully, weather permitting). IT'S GOING TO FINISH THE VOYAGE!

You would think that, but there was too much time in between snow falls. We would get a massive dump of 30+ cm, have an epic day, then it wouldn't snow for the next 2-3 weeks. The good days were epic, and the bad were terrible. There is nothing like 30 cm of rock solid powder and ice. I am not used to icy conditions lol, powder is what my skis are made for. Fat skis just dont work worth a damn in the ice.
