Hit a Pole

so i was pulling out of this recycling place today and my tires were all muddy, so i thought i'd be a hot *** and fishtail real good,,, well i did fish tail real good, right into a pole,,, pretty hard. turns out my ranger is a lot more badass than I am. luckily the airbags didnt go off (yea, i hit that hard), and my radiator and core support are fine, and the pole was fine, so i drove away (rather quickly). but my bumper is proper f***ed, grill is destroyed, the hood is bent in a few different ways, the front cross member is bent, and theres a fiberglass piece in there that holds the headlights and what-not, and thats broken. Still runs and drives fine, I ran over a curb pretty solid to get to that pole, and everything down there looks fine.

i know im a f***ing dumbass, so please, spare me the grief.

if anyone has any new bumper or grille suggestions, or any other suggestions to fix my truck, feel free to comment.

Sucks about the damage.. I destroyed 2 front bumpers on my 2000 lol
Looks like you'll need the frame horns to be straightened out, bumper, valence, grille, header panel (the fiberglass part you mentioned), and a new hood (time to upgrade to an 01-03 powerdome hood :))
It looks like you have the 2wd grille?

That's alright, I like my color, and I'm exploring my options right now.

I was thinking about upgrading to the 01-03 hood, I was thinking about doing that 6 months ago, but didn't want to spend the money, but a new hood is a new hood, each is about $340 from teamfordparts. Will the grille line up? or do I need an 98-00 grille? or an 01-03 grille? I'll just get some sort of billet grill or something that looks clean off ebay.

My frame horns aren't that far off, I think i can back-yard-mechanic those back to close enough.

I was thinking about making/buying some sort of after-market bumper, I've always kind of wanted one, but I liked the stock look of my truck, now I don't. I want something that I can hit things with and doesn't fold in half, and hold a couple lights, and maybe incorporate some skid plate. On the other hand, I think the only reason my airbags didn't go off is because my bumper absorbed so much of the damage.

it really was a badass power slide, i had done the same corner like 2-3 times before, only this time i didnt have a trailer on the back, so i gave it a little extra oomph. it was fine the first whip, but then i tried to pull it back around, and it kept goooooing. I'm mostly pissed about it because i always thought i was a good driver, I've never hit anything, and I've been driving for 7 years. Maybe that's why I feel like a complete dumbass.

Dude I know what you mean. In the winter around here I intentionally do 180's and slide in parking lots in the snow. Last winter all the snow was cleaned up but one spot. I decided to go for it and at the last minute knew I wouldnt make it. Slammed on the brakes and came within inches of hitting those yellow concrete poles. I was so thankful I missed and I said I would never do that again!

Sorry bout your luck but now you can pimp it out some more.

That was almost me a couple of months ago. I was leaving a friends house with some fresh powder on the ground, his road vears off tot he right so I gun it and satart to slide, but my rear went tooo far to the left so I slam the brakes, got nothing but sliding. I ended up hitting the curb, popping on top of it and cmae within a foot of a tree to the front of my truck.
Note to self: never do that again

In the winter I saw someone in a ranger try to powerslide a corner on the snow but lost total control and ended up on someones lawn(2wd & stuck). Hopefully I can learn from your lesson and not teach myself.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do for a bumper, I should know better tomorrow, but chances are I won't need those fogs, so when I figure it out, I'll post something.

Haha I did the same thing this winter, I'm just now almost have it back to how it was. The frame horns are expensive to fix. I had to replace the header panel, grille bumper and valance. I just bent the hood back with some pliers lol

I wish it was that easy,,, my hood has a dent on the front edge where it hit the pole, and it is buckled in the middle, I'm not sure if I can fix it, but I really want the 01-03 edge hood, now seems like a good time to do that.

I know just putting the thing on a frame machine would cost more than I want to spend (I'm on the just-got-out-school-no-job-yet budget). I know the frame is tweaked because the cross member is bent, but if I can get it close enough, I won't even worry about it,,,

I had to take the bumper off to drive home, it was rubbing on the tires, and I took the grill off because it was broken, and so I could see all the damage, I will try and get more pics up tomorrow

Yeah mine just had the dent, it didnt buckle thank god. Your frame might not be tweaked, mine isn't and it bent the frame horn on the left side back pretty good. I had to go to autozone and buy a hack saw to cut my bumper off so I could turn the tires as well. The bumper was up so far I couldn't get all the bolts out.
