Fire truck + sink hole = FAIL

Fire truck + sink hole = FAIL
I forgot about these pictures from the spring.
Apparently I found where they buried all the tree stumps from clearing that lot out. I've driven up and down this little hill a hundred times with no problem. This time, I was going up the hill and the whole truck just dropped to the side. For a second or two, I thought it was going to go over and down into the woods but it stopped. I suppose the 250 gallons of water in the back didn't help either.
The wheels were actually suspended in the air inside this hole. The hole was deeper than the truck could sink since the frame bottomed out. While digging around the wheels, the shovels were digging into an empty hole under the wheels. There was nothing to hook the truck's winch cable to so I brought a bigger truck down to drag it out with. None of the people in the pictures are me since I'm taking the pictures. But thankfully they were there to help me get it out.

Nah. Probably going to be a F-450 or F-550 chassis with a utility body on the back. Depends on how much water we decide to carry. A duce is WAY to big for any practical use around here. A few towns around us have them just like that and we'll call them if need a tactical assault team. But the woods around here aren't very accommodating to a truck that big.

Matt just need to rename this thread as Firetruck+sinkhole= FAIL....LOL had to couldn't help. I wish I could get the pictures of our fire trucks (3 or 4 of them) having to get pulled out of a frozen river one X-mas eve after a house fire. It was the only way to get to the house "Over the River and through the woods" brought on a whole new meaning to our department after that...

Good idea. Done!
Did they forget to make a driveway to the house??? We have a few with bridges that I hold my breath going over. But I've never seen anyone's house actually require driving through a river to get to. Thats nuts. Many years ago in West Haven during a huge storm, there was a wind driven fire jumping from house to house along the water. The hydrants were useless. They actually drove one of the engines 3ft deep into the ocean, opened both steamer caps, and started pumping. No hard suction necessary!
So far this has proven to be one of the best brush fire tools we bought...

I love those old Power Wagons too. I got introduced to them, the township has one, and I plan on picking it up off of them when/if they decide to retire it. It was originally in the army..
That picture is before I pressure washed, cleaned and waxed it. SOme vandals raided the cemetary and kicked the window out.
