Nice. I wouldn't mind having an Expo or LII axle.

The main tube diameter of a 31-spline Ranger axle is 3.25", 28-splines are smaller. Throw a caliper on there and you'll know for sure. One more give away - the 31-spline Rangers have a tag that says 75W140 SYNTH OIL ONLY.

Do like rwenzig said, check the axle tube diameter.

Zabeard, Maurice's '97 Ranger 28 spline 8.8 axle had that same 3 hole for the horizontal shock.

No need to check it is a 31 spline see the tag i had to take it off so I could get a good picture

I wont need the friction modifier for this axle will I???

Or it is still LS

if you run full synthetic gear oil, then you don't need the friction modifier, but if you run a conventional gear oil then you will.

I got the complete unit so I wouldnt have to mess with all the putting together.

Im scared now I dont know what I got Im gonna probbaly screw it up and put in the wrong oil not fill it enough and it will blow up.

Who wants to buy a ford ranger axle????

Lets figure this out

It has a tag that says 75w140 sythetic oil only
Axle code says 4L10 88

4L10 88 = 4.10 limited slip, 8.8"

Any 75W140 synthetic is fine. No need to worry about the friction modifier because the geared Torsen L/S doesn't require it - FM is used to prevent chatter in the clutch type Traction Lok L/S.

You will be fine.

You will need new u-bolts and u-bolt plates though because f the different size axle tubes.

True. Since the LII parts are probably not going to be easy to find used, I would try the u-bolts and plates from a 96-back F150.
