What's the point? Headers won't do you any good if you don't have some sort of forced induction (At least on a Ranger).... No SC or turbo, no point for the headers.... They may add SOME sound, but at the price of what... $400, it's not worth it....

He's going to put the money into tunes for his x-cal instead. Much smarter investment.

I thought I read he said he wanted to or was going to do them at some point, you'll gain power with them, idk how much, but you'll still gain more then just noise.

Corey - Someone said he was gonna S/C but I confirmed the rumor is false at this time...

To everyone else: Shane said he's not or can't get online tonight so you'll have to wait for the story... haha

It may free up a few pony's... But not at the price tag of $300+ is it worth it..

Tunes do the same thing and give you 3 different options.... At only $100, for Shane since he already has an x-cal 2

That doesn't prove anything, especially if three things are done at once. The gain could have been all from the catback. Could have been from bad plug wires earlier, etc. Or maybe 2hp came from the headers.
I only consider dyno numbers reliable if the runs are made back to back, same time, same dyno, with one mod at a time. Differences in temp, pressure and humidity alone could easily make that much of a difference. Dyno numbers are so easily manipulated.
Good tunes will help more than headers on that truck I believe, and much cheaper if he already has a tuner.

Most of that is false, several have said that buying headers is nearly the same as adding a tune. I noticed quite a difference with my headers after installing them. Well worth the money and you dont have those ugly looking rust cast POS. Now I have forced induction and I am sure that helps even more. Headers are worth it on several vehicles. You can tell by looking at most its going to help with flow and they help with heat.

They are about equal to the gains of a tuner, but the tuner will change more than power, it also changes the tranny shift patterns, which to Shane and Trevor that really doesnt matter anyway.

I too noticed a difference with headers in my own truck - I do liek to romp the gas - and there is a noticeable increase in hitting high RPM's going up the hill to my house compared to when the truck was sitting stock - again though, Im running a full intake/exhaust/header setup right now, including coilpack and several other mods - Tuner is going to be the last thing on my list after I finally buck up for an underdrive pulley
