There's a reason you don't see many leafs anymore under decently built and set-up rigs. You've got a great setup with TONS of aftermarket support for bolt-on parts. Why not build onto an already good setup and apply it to the upgraded axle?
I see your reasoning though. When I go out with friends 'cause my truck isn't quite as capable, there's TONS of yota's on leafs. Then they get their butts handed to them in 3-link yota's of similar size and tires and diff setups.

long arm kit - $800
brackets - $125
leafs up front:
leaf springs - $75
brackets - $100
every buggy, jeep, or chevy I wheel with that has leafs in the front flex and work great. I also wheel with a samurai linked on air shocks, yeah it has some KILLER flex. but I've never seen it in a situation where it needed the extra flex that it has over leaf springs.
isn't necessarily a downgrade....depends on what type of leaf pack he uses....
a really arched "lift" leaf spring will never flex hardly at all...you need a relatively flat spring that can reverse arch....
that is true, but there is a MAJOR cost to those so-called bolt-ons....
and again, all the Toyota guys I have wheeled with with SAS's have had some pretty short really arched leaves and majority of thier flex came from the rear....
most people say that dropping a 40 below the rocker panel is some pretty good flex.....

Ok, enough joking, don't want mods thinking I'm serious. SGT Ex is linked on coils, and DeRanged is linked on coil overs. I have no doubt that John... Errr.... Railman, could lead either of those two rigs to whatever situation we wanted. The difference comes on the road. you want cheap Offroad bad assness, leafs. You want performance all around, coil overs. Coils are just... Well... Coils. They ride VERY smooth off road, but suck driving on road.

If you were talking about doing an SAS with links I would have paid more attention

and that was limited by my tires hitting the fenders....which I have trimmed some more...
