Sucks man.

its the weakest part of the shaft i think. right where it necks down again and the splines don't help either.

I would have thought that the shaft would have twisted before it snapped at the slipjoint just because the shaft is all aluminum and that section seems to be stronger. I guess I was way off on that thought though

Was that a 7.5" rear end? Or did you happen to get some wheel hop by chance? I ask, because I know a guy putting down over 400RWHP with his 8.8 28 spline, and he's only broke 1 axle shaft because of a massive amount of wheel hop on launch.

Probably revving it to redline and dumping the hell out of the clutch.

Don't the 8.8 and the 7.5 have the same axle shafts, or am I mistaken on this?

That's what I was thinking.
The shafts, bearings, and gear sets are the same, only difference is the diffs.

If by gears you mean ring and pinion, no. The 8.8 and 7.5 is the size of the ring, hence the weaker 7.5.
Shafts and everything out from the pumpkin are the same....tubes, bearings, sahfts, seals, etc.

there was no wheel hop. i just rev it up to about 4 and let out on the clutch briskley and thats what happen. it did it real easy. that pavement that the carnage is sitting on thats what i was doing the burnout on. that pavement was actually kind of sticky.

If you are going to do something, do a good job at it. Nicely done.
