New intake on the Chevy.

New intake on the Chevy.
My buddies Tahoe is getting repo'd, and he is letting me pick some parts off of it before the bank comes and takes it. I got an intake and a throttle body spacer, and tomorrow I'll have a new battery and wheels and tires. He has so many parts on it that I still want, but not sure if I can afford.
Anyway, here are some pictures of before and after of the intake:
Before:
After:
It's an AEM intake, but a K&N filter oiled air filter. I am going to replace it with an oil-less next Friday.
And say goodbye to the stock Chevy wheels:
And because I don't have them yet, and I don't like to tease people, these are what the wheels look like (picture of my buddies Tahoe):
WOOOOOOOOO!

I normally am not a bit fan of black rims with chrome, but I don't mind them on white trucks. They need to be cleaned bad, though, and I will probably replace the center caps, as they have the awesome snow rust on them already. The tires are like new, though, and my tires need to be replaced, so I am really happy that I am getting them. I may have to crank the t-bars a little, though, but not much. They are the same height of tire, but they are quite a bit wider.

The one thing I REALLY want to do that I think looks completely and utterly awesome is bed-line my grille. You can't see it very well in this picture, but it just looks awesome:
I'd get that bumper form him, but he had it welded to the frame, and it's also about 600 pounds. I'd rather not haul something that heavy all the time.

I didn't notice any more get up and go, but I am still getting used to this trucks acceleration compared to my Dodge. It took about a year to get my Dodge to 65, and this truck it feels like it only takes about a second.
Once I get an exhaust, I think my truck will be perfect. The rest of my mods will be purely aesthetic. No more sound system stuff, and probably not much more motor mods. I MAY get a chip later on, but I am still up in the air with that.

All I noticed was the sound. It is so awesome.

I can still get it, as he's got a real mean bumper on it now and he has it stored in my garage, but I am not sure if I want to get that one, or get one that is built for my truck. I am definitely getting one, though, and then a headache rack.

Well, I got the tires and wheels on......
However, I had to switch back. My old tires and wheels were swapped onto the Tahoe, but they rubbed on my friends lift kit bracketry. So, I am buying wheel spacers for him, and then I'll get the wheels and tires.
Here is a very crappy cell phone picture/teaser:
The truck was jacked up during photographing.
They only rubbed on the back of the tires at full lock. And they are actually 17's, not 18's. Which is awesome, cause that means tires will be cheaper, lol.

Haha that sound is pretty awesome isn't it. My Airaid had a super bad drone when it was under a load though, only got it going up mountains when it would drop down a gear. I actually sold my Airaid for a Volant last week. I noticed so much more from the Edge programmer than I did with intake/exhaust, I recommend you pick one up sometime.
I want to get a programmer, but that will have to wait for quite a while. I'm going to do the "cheap" stuff first, like tint, exhaust and a headache rack, and then I'll be getting the programmer.
I gotta switch back to my stock MAF, as I got a jet chip MAF that is throwing me a CEL.
I already have noticed a bit of an increase in fuel mileage. Last tank was 19.5, and I was at 400 miles on the tank, and the fuel light still wasn't on (it had to have been close, though). This tank, I am at 270, and it's just under half a tank, but we'll have to see what it is when I fill up later this week.
I'm ordering the wheel spacers for my buddies rig, and then I'll be putting my new wheels back on.

I'm still undecided on what I want to do exhaust wise. I kind of want a dual, but the dual exhaust on a co-workers truck that is just like mine is way too quiet. I don't want it super loud, but I want it loud enough to be able to hear it in the cab.

MBRP Inc Performance Exhaust - Snowmobile, Diesel, Muscle Car, Exotic, Motorcycle and Sport Truck Exhaust Systems.
Loud enough that you know its there but quiet enough so you can still have a conversation. When you step on it it will really open up though, which is awesome. I wish it was a still louder at idle but I'm hoping it will increase as it breaks in.

friends 2000 civic si was getting repoed
i got the rims and lowering kit
engine was swapped out for a d16 (the regular civic engine)
entire front end was changed to a 96-98, same with taillights

WOOT! Ordered the wheel spacers, and they will be here next week some time.
And, here is a video of the sound the intake makes. While it's actually fairly accurate as far as sound goes, it doesn't do it as much justice as it could:
I've been friends with this guy for a few years now, and while he's pretty juvenille for his age at times, he's a really responsible character. He joked about having one of his friends steal the Tahoe and take it out to the woods and burn it.
Hopefully he'll be in town soon so we can swap the wheels back around!
