Yakima Roof rack mounted on the Topper.. pics

Well installed the roof rack this morning on the cap. The rack has inset nuts in the rack tubes so it can be bolted together well rattling around in my shed for over a year or 2 some fell out so drilled threw the rack and just bolted it together with stainless bolts gonna take them off and paint them black to blend in here soon when the topper gets painted.

Yakima light mounts to come soon also.

Looks killer. I was thinking of mounting similar to that.

That's pretty sweet. I might get one after my camper shell gets repainted, that's a good spot for a full sized spare

Stock stainless skid plate modded for body lift on a 98-00 needs some rebending. and it also has a under skid structure make out of square steel stock because the stockers look nice but suck at doing anything

Yeah the megawarrior I have is 48" wide or something.
What I would like to do is have someone machine some aluminum mounts. One mount to stay on the cap, with a notch coming up, and a 5/8" horizontal hole front to back. Then another mount that stays on the rack to cradle the other parts, and slide a 5/8" locking hitch pin to secure it.
I have no idea if that makes sense without a picture, but it would sit low, be easily removeable and hinged to clean underneath.

Whats the point? You have a topper, how could you need more storage room?

I use to sleep in the canopy on my Ranger all the time. Shuffling **** around when you are camping and sleeping back there sucks. And if you are trying to carry a full size spare, gas cans and/or firewood it is just that much worse.

Plus you can mount any number of things on to the roof basket. Kayaks, canoes, bikes, snowboards, etc etc.

So it may not make any sense for you, but it does for some people.

Brian pretty much said it. Adding to it a place to mount lights and throw the spare tire when I need the spare space in the bed.

ya I understand this is a little more simple design only 8 bolts and about 10 min and I have it off

Hmm, for some reason I'm not really digging it. Truck looks amazing but the rack just doesnt fit it. It almost looks to small in my opinion. But to each his own.

I really like your truck man, I'm not much for toppers but this one I would consider. What are the specs on your tires?
