Going to drive around tomorrow, should ride about the same if not better because I'm not hitting bump stops.

Going to the junkyard to eye some parts for next weekend then I'll re-torque the bolts again just for safe keeping.

bump stops are trimmed duder. c-notch was too much money/work for me right now. Don't have lots of time to work on it during the school year.

I think it looks better with the extra inch! Ranger's just look odd level like they are almost sagging but not, lol.

im surprised you were hittin that short bumpstop at all with only a flip kit. that thing looks trimmed all the way to the frame lip. hardly any squish before the axle hits the frame there.
im still runnin a full bumpstop with my flipkit, but i guess i did add an extra leaf to the pack as well. which rear springs do you have?

I have the standard leaf spring???? IDk, where does it tell you?

When i go over bumps on the interstate i hit them a lot. I think its just because I'm so light (standard cab, 4cylinder 5spd) but i feel safer with the added inch. I'll probably do c-notch...djm has an awesome Ranger specific one i can bolt in (because welding is too much a pain lol).

djm is way overpriced for what it is.. go with this

http://www.suicidedoors.com/notches/bolt-c-notch-kit

Should just drop the truck off to shane and have him do it im sure he could do it with your help in a matter of an hour or 2.

I ran a 5/5 drop with the same djm flipkit, and a sucide doors notch. Don't think I was sitting that close

it was on a 2001 2.3 duratec, standard cab, automatic

oh, disregard the miss aligned notch, should have messured twice

weird we have basically the same truck. I was sitting about .5inch away from the bump stop before i cut them, so now i'm at about 3in or so. More now with the spindle lift. It looks better now...little rake going on. I like it.

Oh, my spring code was a '3'...my service manual told me nothing of what '3' meant out of the like 5 different spring codes.

ScottG, how bad was it drilling the holes?? I think i'd only be afraid of drilling into the gas tank, lol. How about cutting the notch, what did you use??

the notch was cut out with a sawzall and cut off wheel. and drilling was easy, once you used sharp drill bits, and the tank was far enough away from the frame, we weren't scared

i dunno what "3" means either......do you have two or three leafs in each pack? see scotts pics are three leaf plus overload. mine were 2leaf plus overload, but i added a third leaf when i installed the flipkit.

I personally think it looks a little bit better with the slight rake. Like mentioned above, when it was level it almost looked like it was sagging even though it wasn't.

When I had my slammed B2200, I had taken out 2 leaf springs and put in 3" blocks and I smacked my frame all the time. I used to drag frame with a static drop.

Your truck is lookin really good, but the scoops just aren't my taste. Powerdome FTW!

I'll have to take a look at how many leafs i have in each spring pack. Right now, i'm about 3.5inches from the cut-bump stop. I definitely noticed driving back done to my apartment today (about 90miles, mostly interstate) that i didn't hit and had more rear travel.

The spring number is 33. First 3 is for the front (2wd springs), second 3 is for the rear springs. Ford didn't list a spring rate or comparison chart so i have no idea what they mean.

Mike, i have the powerdome sitting in my shop, just need to paint it this summer, along with the edge bumper/valance!! 4wd front end FTW!!!

Grant...

I've leard this on torsion bar ratings and 4x4 leaf ratings...

in order of strongest to weakest (firmest to softest)

1 B F(bars)
C K(leafs)

Higher number/letter, higher spring rate. Ive looked online for specific ratings of springs, but came up empty handed. I did however find a post saying something like #1 torsion bars are rated at 675lb? And thats it. lol.

Okay then, if this holds true for leafs, what are the other numbers/letters so i can compare teh 3 i have? And 675 sounds a little low, but maybe right (i've never dealt with t-bars but assume springs constants work the same way but rotational?? Where is D. when you need him?)
