Wrong....Jack Roush has stated more then 1000x that the 427 number is the HP output of the motor, has nothing to do with the motor size.

They don't even advertise the car as making exactly 427hp, they chose 427 because of the engines that size that everyone knows and are just trying to play it off by having the car make around that much hp.

Sorry dude, but you might ACTUALLY wanna look into that. Them calling it a 427 has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the motor size. They use it because the car is rated at 427hp....do some research.

Can you not read? I just said I know they call them that because of the horsepower, even tho they don't even rate them at exactly 427hp like you would think they would. It's 435. You would think that if they really wanted to stick with the whole 427hp thing they would actually rate them at exactly 427hp, but they say it makes 435 if you look it up. They put 427 because its a number thats a big badass famous motor everyone knows and that is pretty lame of them to do that instead of writing 435 which is what the car actually makes. The car has nothing to do with the number 427 yet it has a sticker of it on the back.

I worked at the ford dealer when this was happening here is the break down as it happened.
Early 99’s were fender only badges. People were annoyed with this as it looked like a Triton V8 badge and Diesel guys like to be showy
Around January of 99 the badge with Powerstroke diesel V8 with two red lines was put on the door.
In 2002 when the headlights were redesigned to be clear, the door badge changed to two chrome lines.
2003 the new powerstroke diesel V8 door badge was put on 6.0’s only.
The 2002 designed badge was still put on 2003 7.3’s.
This is 100% accurate for super duty’s sold in Minnesota at least.

actually i don't think they are. you don't see many, but they aren't worth a ridiculous amount. just the average price of a nice collector car. check ebay. you can get them made new now too, though they aren't really real DMC. they are like $60k to have built. depending on options. they use NOS parts, new parts, i dunno, but its a new car with modern features.
