Ranger is gone, I stripped it down to stock besides the exhaust and traded it in on a 05 Subaru STI ... I have loved these things since they came out and now that i can afford a used one and can still find a good condition 05 which is my favorite year and could get preowend from a dealership. So I decided that's what I wanted to do. Its stock besides a greddy blow off valve and alarm. And has 44k miles, it was originally bought south of the border. I got it monday but its been snowing ever since and haven't gotten any good pictures, tomorrow is supposed to be nice so i will wash it up and get some better ones.

Thanks guys, I put a new deck in it already so I can play music from my iphone, tinting the front windows tomorrow morning at work. Next purchase is going to be a radar detector, as its impossible to drive this thing slowly lol. And it came with new blizzaks which have been a blast this week in the snow but am going to need some new ones in a few weeks when it drys up. looking at some dunlop direzza z1 star specs. Going to leave the stock bbs's on for now but am having them painted black at work in a few weeks. After that a cold air and start saving for a perrin stage 2.

Yah, my front and rear diffs were leaking, and it needed some wheel bearings and I felt bad about selling it to someone in that condition so I pulled all the goodies off it and traded it in for a 2g hit on what I owed. It saved me on the taxes and whatnot as well so whatever. Lol the wing is a bit much but the suspension is supposedly tuned for all the down force it creates so it's better to leave it on until you re-tune the suspension.
And Cooke there is a reason imports have such a high resale value and are doing so well and American manufacturers are being bailed to stay in business and since is a Ford forum who are still doing the best out of all of them I will leave it at that lol. Its the only car I would ever buy not made in Germany all the same.
And yah Seb, scary fast! lol

It looks good. They are the best looking years for sure. The new ones look like poo but they are all fast.

You already had a German engineered vehicle with your Ranger. Well, at least the engine ha ha.

if you want a mean look on the stock wheels...

my buddy has his 05 dropped on coilovers. tucking a little tire. he has the stock BBS's still. but has 25mm spacers. damnnn the tires sit nearly flush with the fenders. super sexy
you can kinda see it in this pic (no front bumper since hes about to get dyno tuned and cant get up the dyno with the front bumper haha

Nice STI! We thought about buying a used STI for my wife but decided that they draw way too much attention. Plus you just know that they are driven hard previously owned. lol
So we bought an 08 Legacy GT (2.5L turbo, manual trans, rear limited slip). It's kind of the less fast, more grown up version I guess. Still pretty decent at 243 hp and 241 lb-ft of torque. But it can easily be made into a great "sleeper" that doesn't turn heads. I think the first performance upgrade will also be a Perrin catted downpipe to go with the magnaflow catback and a tune. It needs some suspension/wheel/tire work though, it's way too soft as it is.

You should ask around and see if the 05 STI has an oil screen in the banjo bolt on the turbo. They can easily become clogged (especially if you run synthetic with higher mileage between changes) and starve the turbo of oil. Most people just remove the screen.

PS - Magnaflow catbacks sound AWESOME on the Subaru. I don't have a video of ours but it sounds great without being raspy or too loud, it's just right. The system fit very well, maintains good ground clearance and looks great too.

I loved my truck, but it wasn't practical, I live and work in the city and only ever took the truck off road for the sake of it. If i could justify/afford 2 vehicles I would have kept it, but I wanted an STI forever, specifically an 05 and they are getting harder to find in good shape without being bagged on too much or modified already.

Thanks for that advice Brian! I will check into that oil screen for sure!!
I was weary about buying a used STI as well, I looked at a few lately and they are all bagged on. I got it certified pre-owend from the sealership, paid a little more but it was worth the piece of mind. This one is in excellent shape besides the fact that it was shot with a bb gun at one point lol there are a few small dings on the driver side that I noticed when I was cleaning it up, then found a little hole in the taillight so I went in to the dealership and *****ed a little about it so they would give me a new tail light. I can take care of the dings myself eventually but the tail light was getting condensation so they reluctantly ordered me a new one for free.

That was cool of them to order a new light for you.
I haven't pulled the oil screen yet on mine because it's under warranty, one dealership said I should take it out and the other dealer said to leave it because they had no clue what I was talking about. When I start modifying enough to screw with warranty I'm going to pull it.
The oil pickup tube sometimes fails on the lgt as well, but I don't know if it is an issue on the 05 sti or not.
