Ranger is gone, what do you think of it's replacement?

My first car was a 1986 VW Vanagon Syncro (4x4) with the 2.1L watercooled boxer. It was a sweet van! But it was also the first year of EFI and would randomly stop running or not start every couple of weeks. I tried replacing ECUs, ground straps, sensors, plugs, etc and could never figure it out. I sold it with 219k miles to a guy who was going to swap a 24V VR6 into it.

it highly matters which corvette of course but Id imagine even you would not have so much fun with a bone stock c6z in your car and stock for stock an sti would have no chance at even a c5z and mod for mod, eh no point either..
just so its known I love all cars and just fueling fire for some fun car debates
JP7 any 1/4 mile times?

I said paint the wheels and sleeper, lol I just hate the gold wheels they are too typical and i hate typical. lol.. And by sleepering it i mean taking off the wing and shaving the lid or put a smaller one on. And eventually a front mount intercooler and be able to ditch the hood scoop.
Not that I dont love the look of them as is, I like being inconspicuous, and this car is far from that. Every douchebag in a civic I pull up next to try's to race me, it's getting old fast. lol

I had some guy pull up to me on my way home today in a G6 done all up to the nines, probably all body mods and exhaust tho. Anyways had his kid in the car who was eyeballing my car and tried to burn me off the line to show me up to his kid,, didn't work,, then i saw him come up behind me a few minutes later and try to fly by me,, I walked on it as soon as he was beside me and started pulling away again instantly.. Too funny

hahaha no point in building jdm that can compete with usdm? 10 grand and a crx will keep vettes behind you. dollar for dollar you will spend more to get into and keep the vette going with the rice and freeway kills are pointless if you cant keep it in the corner. a stock sti would rape a stock vette in the canyons, vettes are nice but when it comes to getting power down in the twistys they arent epic machines, still fat and american.
I also never said there's no point in racing us vs jap cars as there's clearly plenty of competition. also please keep the money factor out, it's a useless argument

The new 'vettes are very capable cars. They have come a long way in the last 10 years with regards to suspension and handling, rather than just huge motors in a little car. I still think they are butt ugly and the typical car for rich idiots who want a fast car and know nothing about cars.. I am just a euro ***** too lol. I cant even believe I own a Japanese car lol.

are you planning to autocross or track your sti?

No no, re-read it. I said IF I were trying to squeeze all of the power out of, as in doing all of those things. Equal length headers would make a fair amount more power, but I love the sound of un-equal length too much. lol
Even if I ran a bigger turbo, intercooler, pump, injectors, downpipe, etc, I would stick with un-equal headers simply because I don't care if I left a little power on the table, it's not a track car. I just want to enjoy driving it.
I still keep thinking about trading it for another VW already though to be honest. Our VW felt like such a solid car, and the Subarus feel like, well, a Japanese car. At 16k miles it already has several different rattles and the whole car just feels cheaper than VW. The paint is thin and chips easily, interior feels cheap... Which is why we bought the 03 Jetta a while ago instead of a WRX, it just felt so much better overall.
But the Subaru is still a ton of fun to drive. Even being stock I can four wheel drift in first and second if the pavement is even a little bit wet, still pulling pretty hard all the while. Not so much with front wheel drive. Nevertheless I'm very tempted to go look at a 2010 Golf TDI if I can find one anywhere near here. Looking at what we owe, the trade-in value, and the price of a new Golf TDI I think we could probably hold the same payment. It might not be as fun to drive but we really like them. Or maybe we could just be happy with what we have.
Oops, sorry, seriously hijacking this thread.

Might get into autocross, there are supposedly a bunch of guys around Edmonton who drive STI's and have autocross events so I might look into that. But i don't know about rallying, I like my car and don't want to beat it up! lol
S4's are very nice, I worked on a RS4 at the shop a while back, they are gorgeous cars but a like all audi's a pain in the a$$ to work on.

Nice spec b! I couldn't find one around here so we ended up with the lgt limited with 5spd manual. Sure would be nice to start out with a stronger tranny and better rear diff.
How do you like the pro clip mount on the console? I wanted to get one for the console like that for the iPhone but it seems too distracting to change music while it's down there. Might stick one on one the vents.

That is a nice legacy!
It's a bit ridiculious the amount of attention that car gets, it gets a little annoying. Exactly why it must go a little more sleeper, taking off most the badges just didn't cut it lol. Black wheels and smaller wing will make it blend in a little better.

that makes me feel better about not getting one. My wife is a social worker and I'm pretty sure her clients would just want to beat her up and steal it. haha

I love street racing against exotics. I was completely wasting an F430 one night with only my FPRed and E85. Now it would to be an Enzo for it to even be fun. Never had a chance to race a lamborghini. Only lost to a 900 whp STI (car I tuned actually)
