I'm,wanting to know what this black box with wires is for when I had a shop last work on it I think they didn't hook it on its bracket and therefore rested onto a hot metal line and melted into the box and through a wire pictures below

The melt mark you can see i just need to know what this is so i can fix it.

And where in the engine bay is it?
Looks like a heater hose in the foreground

It looks like a connector interface
Are there wires at both ends, and can you take it apart?
