Totaled?

Since i am in this field everyday (auto repair not law enforcement) i'll tell you what i'd do here in Michigan.
Since you guys have that damage lein or whatever it is. you need to first ask for reimbursement of that. 2nd. take your truck to somebody else for an estimate, try to convey to him that this truck will not be the same if fixed, and hopefully he will total it, i'd estimate the value of the truck to be around $7500. this has nothing to do with the cop or the city now, this is all in the insurance companies court i bet they don't have the greatest insurance in the world, most cities don't which means they are gonna work to not make this a total. most times this will not work. im not saying you should go run out an get a lawyer, but if your going to take on the insurance guys, you would be wise to seek advice from one.
thats my 2 cents. my dad ran a body shop for years, so i've seen this countless times.

if they dont totaled it, he will have a clean truck record..nothing on it...trust me i know on this.it will be up to say it or not t the seller, but the truck wont be branded "accidented" or "rebuilt title'. a car will only have a rebuit title when the insurance declared it totaled and pay the full truck worth...then some 1 an rebuilt it and it will be a rebuilt title.

college? LOL i did more time in school for my carpenter license then cops do at academy... im not saying there are all dirt bags.. but a lot of them are, and if the screenning process would be better we would have better cop...You have more chance to be accepted at the police academy if you have no college or anything past high school..why? cause they dont want too smart and educated people so they can form them and brain wash them as much as they want and pay them low grade... do you think cop make good money? rofl nothing, no wonder a lot of retarded are in cops shoes...

Sucks about the truck man...
Few years ago we had a ambulance blow through a stop light and t-boned a car and killed its occupants. It was ruled the ambulance was at fault because the ambulance even though he was wailing on the siren and lights were on they are still supposed to slow down/stop until the intersection is clear.
So you might have a chance If you go that route
