I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, 97 Ford Ranger Reg Cab, 19 yrs old, $44 a month for insurance. Family discounts do wonders.

It just so happens that i really wanted a truck...for the people who dont get it, be happy for me...its my first truck that I myself paid for and did it by saving up my hard earned money.

and besides, its gunna get waaaaaay better gas milage than my ungeared 3.slow is getting...cuz right now im gettin 12mpg average in it...

Just out of curiosity, why can't you put it totally in your name on the title? I had my fist car completely in my name when I was 15, and paid hard earned cash for it too.

California .... if youre under 18 your parents take financial responsiblity for you to get a lisence so insurance wont touch you if you parents dont have a stake in the car

in my case to be on my parents insurance to get the cheaper rate, the folks have to own or co own the car

im almost 25 and my dad is co owner of the truck (what a pain that was cause he was out of state when i bought it, so i was issued temp tags till he got back cause i couldnt be issued a new title till they had his signature)

Yeah, for the insurance discount, they have to have their name on the title, but I didn't do that.

vehicles are my anti-drug, i love em, love working on em and love driving em.

to me its not a waste of money because it was my goal in the first place to buy another vehicle.

More power to ya

It's cool and all that you have enough cash saved up to buy yourself a car but you have to think if you really needed it. If this is the case then congrats on buying your own truck. Now just pay for the registration and insurance and if you can afford that then you made a good decision. You cam take one truck to school every other day, although if I had to choose between the ranger or the Mazda it would be no contest. That's why were members on this site right?

exactly. thats a great way of putting it. if you have the money, do it now, you can have fun now and then your not wanting to buy another truck when your out of school and have all kinds of bills. living wiht your parents now i assume you dont have much bills to pay but when your living on your own things like rent and loans for college ect will pile up. so props to you for doing this now, i cant wait to see how it turns out. plus working on your truck, like you said you dont get sucked into all the stupid things teens do these days like drugs... god i sound like my parents...and im only 18
