Engine Swap 2.5L to replace a 4.0L

I have a 1997 supercab 4wd with a blown 4.0L. A couple years ago a friend gave me a 1995 2.5L SOHC. What are the issues with putting the 2.5 into my Ranger or are they to many to make this work? If it will work, will the 2.5 match my auto trans. The 2.5 had a 5 sp trans.

Thanks,
Tom2011

I'm guessing your talking about the 2.5 v6 out of the contour. I highly doubt it'll match up being that that was built as a FWD.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you.

No, the 2.5 is out of a 96 Ranger 4x2 with a 5 speed trans.
