new to the forums

well ive had my 2001 ranger 2.5L 5spd for about 4-5 years now...ive enjoyed the time weve had but now i have a few problems....i need some assistance please....first off it vibrates all the time a lil bit im figuring the tires just need to be rebalanced? but it gets a lot stronger and more noticable when im on the brakes i dont know if this has anything to do with anything....also that driveshaft balancer did fall off making that horrible metal on metal noise....i used some high strength silicone and put it back on the spot it came from and its stayed for a good 10k miles now...the truck has 110k on it btw....sorry for the lack of periods and everything haha....its getting hard to shift into gear...no grinding just hard to get in period....im assuming this is the throwout bearing?? if that is it i think ill save that for spring....the e-brake also doesnt work...how hard to replace cable??...its something ive never done im figuring it cant be that hard...about to do a nice tune up...its never got new spark plugs/wires fuel filter or a maf cleaning...i have done the seafoam trick....im concerned most about the vibration...any ideas? thanks everyone -Evan

Welcome......you need to have your rotors turned if its more noticeable when on the brakes.

it vibrates all the time a lil bit
You probably need to balance the tires.

it gets a lot stronger and more noticable when im on the brakes
If you can feel it through the steering wheel as a side to side shimmy when applying the brakes this usually indicates your brake rotors need to be machined or replaced.

its getting hard to shift into gear...no grinding just hard to get in period....im assuming this is the throwout bearing??
If its never been replaced then more than likely its the slave/bearing.

the e-brake also doesnt work...how hard to replace cable??
I'd try lubing the cables with some penetrating lube and see if that frees them up first.

You can also need ball joints or tie-rod ends as part of the deal.

thanks everyone for the answers...ill get those rotors turned or replaced tomorrow that makes a lot of sense on why that would be....i just put new brake pads on and the heat from the new pads may have warped them a lil bit...maybe its time for some new rotors....duh! ...how difficult is it to replace the slave cylinder? i can take my time with this i have two vehicles...id rather not pay some shop like $1000 to do something i could do...ill try and get some good pics of the truck when it stops snowing and being crappy out... :)

how difficult is it to replace the slave cylinder?
You'll have to pull the transmission. While your that far into it I would also look at replacing the clutch and flywheel.
