Adding A/c to a non a/c ranger?

I'm curious if any of you have done this? I have the 2.5L and the cali summer is coming soon.
I'm assuming I would need at the minimum:
AC compressor + hardware, HVAC panel
condenser, dryer/evaporator, lines

I did that a while back ,to my father in laws truck and there was a peace of the wiring harness under the hood that i had to put in for it to work.I think it was three wires that went from the drivers side to the passengers side.

I just got back from the pick and pull and got almost all the stuff I need. It's looking like I'm gonna have to flip this compressor over, as it came from the v-6... I'm still in the planning stages tho.

Has any one else done this??

Did you get all of the a/c wiring harness from under the hood.

I got as much as I could (leading into the ECM/ECU harness) I got the relay and all the connectors... to the compressor and (i'm guessing) the low press switch.

It's all from a 97, and from what I could tell right off the batt, I'll (obviously) need a way to activate it, and I have a a/c panel on order for that. The wiring doesn't bother me... I know that unless I add it, or activate it, I won't have the WOT cut-out switch, but I rarely go WOT anyhow.

When I lined it up, I will have to mount it upside down (connector facing the ground vs facing up) which is no biggie, except in that the lines will be swapped, so I may have to be creative and do some bending.

Now I'm wondering if I need to upgrade the truck's cooling system.

Does anyone have access to the Ford tech manuals?

That's what I was figuring... any suggestions on a particular brand? I'm currently looking at summit.
Heck, if I can pull this off and get power doors/windows... my (yet to be concieved) kids might be driving this ranger someday! :p

Man, i'm curious if I should just return all this stuff and go for the ford parts counter...
the ford CD is talking about a "A/C pressure cut-off switch" yet, my lines don't have that... grrrr.

for anyone that's viewing this and not responding, I downloaded the service manual last night and it's pointing me in a better direction.

I still need to get either custom a/c lines made, or bite the bullet and buy them from ford... at a reduced price, of course :D
