Hey guys I have a question

I have a 2.3L 4 cyl XLT 96 ranger , the transmission shift really hard mostly on 1 and 2 gear (is a auto) know my uncle told me (he give me the car and told me that I needed just to change the transmission mount, which I did and still shifting hard) that the previous owner have change the transmission and the one the truck have now is a retarded transmission, now my question is;

IT if is true that this truck may have a retarded transmission ? I have no clue I have never hear about a retarded tranny.

Thanks for any info.

Try replacing the modulator.Remove the vac line from it first to see if it's leaking tranny fluid.
