Hard start on HOT days.

I have a 1994 4 cyl ranger. Last summer it was crazy hot here in TX. If i parked my truck in the sun I had to use starter fluid to get it going. I was not sure what was causing that.

Fuel pump is good, changed fuel filter and fuel pump relay. Fall and winter came and the problem didn't continue.

This past Sat it was above 95 degrees my truck was parked in the sun and had to use starter fluid to get it going.

What could cause this problem?

Sounds to me like the fuel is vaporizing in the hot temps. Have you hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to see what pressure is at when this occurs???

Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator to make sure it does not leak internally???

I agree with tempfixit, you are probably getting vapor lock. If your fuel pressure is good when it is hot you can always get some of that stuff to wrap around the fuel lines (I don't know what it is called) to help prevent that.
