96 ranger 2.3 8 plug heating issues

ok people its a 2.3 8 plug engine. i pulled the head off 3 days ago and seen it had blowed the headgasket. had the head resurfaced and put new head gasket water pump timing belt on it. i crank it up and it still tries to over heat. the uppper and lower radiator hose are getting very hott but it wont blow nothing but cool air out when i turn the heat on inside the vehicle. the heat worked fine before.. ive been told 2 diffent things 1 that its a cracked head and 2 that it may have a big air pocket in it,, when it gets hot it pushes all the water back n the reservoir. is there a way to bleed the cooilin system of air pockets ... any info at all would be greatly be appreciated.
