98 2.5 problems
So tonight I was sitting at a light and when I went to take off the truck fell flat on its face. So I limped it to all places a Ford dealer I was by until I towed it home.
It will idle just fine but when you give it any about off gas it will rev a little and just fall and continue to do that no matter the pedal position.
So first I thought timing belt(122k miles)but it still idles perfectly. Can the computer compensate if the belt slips a tooth?
Second I thought fuel pump or filter going out or clogged but when you try and rev it up it you can smell fuel.
When I towed it home I stopped by autozone and had them pull codes to see if anything showed up but there was nothing. I did not get a CEL.
I figure I will pull the timing cover tomorrow and check that but does anyone have any other ideas for me? It will still start and idle fine so I'm lost.
