Post NEED HELP ASAP

OK I had a professionoal install a cherrybomb glasspack on my 4-banger 93' ranger. The next day I started to smell exhaust fumes from underneath the hood coming into the cab. I have been driving with the windows down and the vents closed it smells soo bad. Can someone please tell me whats wrong?

Thanks for any help!!

sure its exhaust fumes and not 'new muffler smell'?

Take it back if its exhaust. New exhaust parts have a hot metal stink to them for a few days before they are fully broken in.

there is no tailpipe at all. They told me trucks dont need tailpipes as long as the muffler is like somewhere around 4 feet past the cab.I cant remeber the exact measurement but thats what they told me. And so is everyone else. I had one of my buddys tell me it was exhaust coming from the hood. So i am going to talk to them tomorrow about it. Do I need a tailpipe or not? lol...

new muffler smell. stickers, paint, other such things burn off a new muffler. should go away in a few hundred miles. during that time, the muffler 'breaks in' as well...aka...gets coated in crap OR the crap inside the muffler gets burnt off. should sound different down the road as well.

ive been dumped exhausted for a few years now...no problems.

If it's a professional that installed your exhaust, they should have every fitting they need for the pipes. Tell them to install a down bend while you are there.

I call it a turn down but that might not be the official term. I'm running dumped and I smelled the exhaust stuff for a little while but it wasn't more than a week or two.

the muffler shop that you went to = sux!!!! take it back to them and make them put you a turn down tip on it and have them check the rest of the pipe for leaks. after that all should be good.

the problem is that you put a glasspack on a 4-banger..... bet your ranger sounds like a Ricer. ha ha j/k
