spark plug?

im sitting here watching TruckU and they are working on a 96 ranger thats a 4 cyl but it has it has 2 plugs per cyl and a coil pack that looks like one for a v8 i have never seen that b4 and thought i was interesting.

that's how pretty much all the 2.3's and 2.5s are, except the very early 2.3 i think it was early 90's they started that. Pain in the but to change them too.

ya. my brothers 01 2.5 has 'em. i kinda wonder why? two plugs per cyl.....why? is it for a complete fuel burn? or...??

I've heard that one plug sparks on the compression stroke, much like any other engine out there, and the other sparks on the exhaust stroke, it's supposed to offer a more complete burn as well as reduced emissions. I could be wrong, it's just what I've heard.

Rotary engines have the same setup. 2 plugs per rotor.

what year and what motor? looks like they started the 8 plug setup in 1989.

Gotta love the good ole Lima's, enough spark plugs for a v8, without all that pesky horsepower

yeah when passing the emissions tests got harder...... fords solution to the problem.. just throw another plug in there that will fix it. :)
