1986 2.3l Fuel Issues

Ok guys i need help. I have a 1986 2.3l (5-speed) ranger, thats been sitting for a mere 2 months. The problem is that there is no gas getting to the intake. Ive tried an ohms meter, all the wires seem fine from the fuel pump. If i spray starting fluid into the throttle body, the truck fires right up. Ive checked the fuel pump several times and it works fine. What else could be causing this? im lost. My next trick is to hotline it straight to the battery if i cant figure it out. Please give me any opinions you have.
Thanks,
Nick

Is the pump getting power? have you changed the fuel filter?

Hey Nick check the fuel pressure regulator it might not be holding pressure in the fuel rail sending all back to the tank.

fuses, relay, regulator, pump, filter. There are many things that can be the problem. Even a bad ground wire for one of the parts. Also don't use starting fluid to get it to fire. use some gas in a spray bottle. Starting fluid can blow the motor up.

Thanks guys! Anyways since i was off for 4 days i pulled into the garage, and redid the whole fuel sytem, aside from cleaning the injectors. After 5 hours off work it came down to the in tank fuel pump. I bought a new one and also replaced that. Wala it works...my poor truck still seems like its running rough though. Maybe because its close to 300k and has a blown piston ring. :)
