Engine's just developed a ticking noise
Evening all.
Just joined in the hope that a fellow Ranger owner might be able to help.
Got a 2.5TDi 2005 4x4, done 74,000 miles. Oil's changed every six months without fail and it's never thrashed.
Last night during an 80-mile road trip I noticed the engine 'ticking' over the usual diesel rumble.
There was no loss of power, nothing odd with how the truck drives and the oil (which is still green after a recent change) was just below maximum. Water radiator level was fine.
On a cold start this morning, the ticking is much louder, and it gradually quietens but doesn't go away entirely.
Obviously it's a bit of a worry, especially as it's my business truck.
Any ideas as to what it might be, please?
