I just bought a 87 2.3. When needle registerd empty and went to fill up and only 8.5 gallons. I've been reading that most of the trucks have at least 16 gallon tanks so has any one heard of a smaller tank being on these or is the sender unit all screwed up? I'.m thinking about taking a 5 gallon can with me and just drive until its starts to sputter out and see whats going on.

 

Sounds like your sender is faulty.
