zero fuel pressure but runs ? 95 2.3

looked at a 95 today, sop pre-purchase is check the fuel pressure, have seen this on other rangers i've looked at cann't figure it out, hooked up gauge with it running any clues? thx

FPR(fuel pressure regulator) could be open

I would expect engine to die and certainly not start after it did

Most likely the test port is damaged, or pin inside is to low, I have seen that, so pressure gauge is not pushing on the pin so 0 psi pressure
Its a Schrader valve so the same as valves on tires
You could try an extender, used in tire valves, and see if it can reach the pin

If you are careful you can use a small screw driver to push the pin down, like letting the air out of a tire, but be warned 30psi pressure will spray fuel a LONG way

Thanks RonD, figured something like that, or as when a well loses "prime", kept inactive for a period.
