1998 2.5 4cyl Ranger Dies after start
Awhile back I purchased a 98 Ford Ranger 2.5 4cyl that had a blown head, the head was removed before I got it. I got a new head and assembled it on the motor. Started the motor and the head sounded like it wasn’t getting oil, so I replaced the oil pump too and that helped. After putting the new oil pump in, the truck won’t stay running. It will start and sound good for 5 to 10 seconds and then it sounds like it’s building pressure, starts to sputter and eventually dies. It won’t start again, but if I wait for about 30 minutes it will and then goes through the same scenario and dies. I replaced the Cam Position Sensor, I’ve tried re-timing it a dozen or more times, but nothing seems to help.
Does anyone know what could be going on with this or know any tests that I could do to see what's happening?
