87 Ranger S Model

First time poster here, tried the search, but couldn't find anything closely related to my question. I have an 87 Ranger S model. This was a very low dollar, plain model truck. It came with a 2.0 engine with 5 speed. My dad bought the truck new, so it's all original. Problem is, the engine is not the normal 2.0 that's listed for the 87 model at all the car parts stores. I use the engine spec plate under the hood to get plugs and such, otherwise they will sell me parts for the other 2.0 engine which has a 1bbl carb. Mine has a 2bbl carb, I can't find much info on it's settings, and the gas mileage is only about 14mpg. Wheel bearings recently cleaned and repacked, with new brakes, new tires properly inflated, it runs ok, just a gas hog. Any thoughts on the carb for this engine?
thanks

The 2bbl used on a 2.0 was a "Isan",tag#F87A-9510-AA...Only 2.0 2bbl listed in Ford catalog is for a '88 Ranger.......

Dude, I had such a hard time trying to find the right carb for my 88 2.0. I ended up just getting one off of ebay that was used. When I rebuild my motor im going to get ride of all the factory **** and get an aftermarket electronic igntion and an edlebrock or weber 2bbl.

i've got an 87 with a 2barrel carb....

the block and head are from a mustang though.

everything else is from the original 2.0 that was in the Ranger

get an aftermarket 2 barrel Weber or holley carb....about 290 cfm should do it for a 2.0
