Code P0401, EGR problem

My truck is throwing code P0401, AKA my EGR valve isn't flowing enough. Is there any way to fix this other than replacing the whole valve assembly?

Edit: '98 Ranger.

Forget the EGR valve. It's much more likely to be a defective flow sensor (DPFE) or leaks in the hoses to it. Search P0401 and P0402 for many threads on this problem.
