some 2.0 block questions

ok so the 87 ranger i have has a rebuilt engine. it started life as a 2.0 block. me and my dad took it to racerwalsh in jacksonville to have it built. it was suppose to come back as a 2.5L engine with a 2.5 crank, 5.5" sportsman rods and wiseco pistons and the head ported and 2.3L valves put in, double wound springs, custom grind cam, and roller followers. well after we got everything put together we ran it for a little while. and then it had to sit for about a year until we got the body work and all completely finished. so we go to crank it back up and it starts smoking(oil) all the time. at idle and while driving. so we check the valve guide seals and they are good. so my dad tore the motor back apart.well first off to be double wound springs you can push them down with your hand. and a few of the valves were very tight in the valve guides. it had only been bored out .030 over and these idiots put stock size (3.51) pistons into a cylinder that we measured to be 3.54". and it looks like they just threw in some oversize rings to compensate for their screwup. so now we are just thinking of buying pistons for a 2.5 since it will match up with the crank and rods. so my question is can a 2.0L block be bored from stock 3.51 to 3.78 with no problems?

so no one on here knows if a 2.0L block can accept a 3.78 bore of a 2.3 or 2.5? it doesn't look like it can but i want to know for sure.
