2.3 turbo problems
I have a 94 ranger I was originaly wantin to turbo my 2.3, but I have decided to scratch that and just swap in the turbo engine. I think this would be much easier. Now all I should have to do with the ecu is swap in the computer from the donor vehicle. I figured I would pull the wiring harness too. If I did this it should be all plug and play, yes? I would like run 20# of boost. I've heard that I will Need to do something else to the ecu. What is left?

research the hell out of it. http://rangerpowersports.com I think they switched to ODBII in 95...so wiring won't be as bad but i believe you will still have to repin a few wires. You will need an electrical fan and atleast consider swapping in a 4.0 radiator. If you're going to run that much boost you need to throw in a 255 fuel pump. might consider swapping the turbo depending on which motor you get.....but probably isn't needed ( I believe the IHI turbo isn't as effiecient after 19#). The ecu from a turbo motor should be able to run the 20# of boost with no problem considering alot of teh turbo motors run 15 pounds stock.
A few things i forgot:
There will be issue w/ you heater box and a/c (if you have it). You can either flip the stock header and have it machined to match the ports or purchase an aftermarket header 40bob.com...i believe peopel are also modifying their heater boxes. Another thing to consider is that your stock rearend is good for 200hp...so you may consider that and getting a performance clutch if you are keeping your stock tranny.
