97 Ranger question

I have a 97 2.3 ranger and i took it to the lube shop to get my oil changed. The guy did his thing and topped off my fluid levels. Well when he was done I got in my truck and drove off. As I took off, I noticed my clutch had a different feel to it. I really didn't think anything of it, so I drove off. About 2 miles down the road my clutch completely wouldn't disengage and I stalled. I could shift gears when i pressed the clutch, but when I released the clutch with the truck in gear it would not move. I was perplexed because the clutch was fine before I broughtn it down there. I decided to look at the clutch reservoir to check the levels and it seemed a little too high, but not bad. I decided to try to drive it with the cap off of the reservoir and the clutch worked. The only thing I could think of is I relieved the pressure out of the line to disengage the clutch. I sucked a little fluid out and it runs fine now. Does anyone have an idea what could have happenned other than my theory.

The slave cylinder is on its way out. Get ready to do a clutch job soon.
