2.5 hickup/cough during accel.

1998 2.5 stick truck, happens intermittently and did it tonight, last time it did it was about a month ago...that i noticed. anyway when i really revved it up to about 3500-4000 it seemed like it was running fine, but all the sudden it acted like you hit the nitrous and it had a bit more power. then also when shifting through gears, 1st and 2nd i noticed it during accel it was going fine, then all the sudden it acts like it's completely flooded, or someone turned the key off; starts choking itself and almost dies. tonight when it did this i let the throttle off, then put my foot back on it and it all seemed to be fine. last time it did this about a month ago it didnt act like it was dying, but it was REALLY lagging and struggling to accelerate, doing it very slowly. anyways over the past few months i've checked codes a handful of times and had a tps code and an oxygen sensor code that i cleared, haven't checked to see if they've returned. can either of those sensors cause this problem? Also during an oil change while checking around i checked my fuel pressure after changing fuel filter and it was right at 65 psi and maintained that when i snapped the throttle. i was told 65 was normal.

does anybody have input as to where i could start with my issue of "slightly dying" or sluggish accel? truck has about 130000 on it.

From my own experience, O2 sensors MAY cause that type of problem, but you will get a check engine light with it as well. I had a 2.3 that would lag from the start and I would step on the gas and I couldnt go over 45mph at times. Turns out it was a bad coil pack, wires and plugs. I spent alot of money trouble shooting it myself and turned out to be something as simple as plugs, pack and wires. Hopefully you can have a simple fix, good luck
