This may be a stupid question so please stay with me as I've never bought a brand new vehicle before. I've owned four different vehicles in my life and they were all used. Anyway, let's say that Ford doesn't outright offer yellow or grabber orange as color options for the standard '08 XL Ranger 4 cyl. Would it still be somehow possible for them to order me a truck with the specific features I wanted?

Like lets say I went to one of my local Ford dealerships and requested the above mentioned 2.3L XL standard cab in yellow with an automatic transmission and cruise control. Would they be able to order this specific truck for me even if that color or option didn't come factory on that particular model?

 

According to the ford website, Grabber Orange is not offered on the XL, but is offered on the XLT. Why not look at XLTs?

 

An XLT wouldn't cost that much more and it would have nicer seats etc...

 

What exactly is the difference between an XLT and a XL?

 

XL's only come in vinyl seats no power windows or locks plastic grill and bumpers. XLT's have chrome grills, bumpers and cloth seats optional cloth floor and map pockets in the doors, power windows and locks etc...

 

Base vs. "all the standard amenities"...lol.

Whatever the first year of the 06+ body style that had yellow.....i think it was 07......anywho......my local dealership had 5 yellow XL extended cabs. According to ford, yellow isn't an option on XLs for that year......but I have personally seen them.

 

yellow isnt an color offered anymore they switched the yellow to grabber orange.

and watch what you say trigger in 07 xlts had the same black bumpers and grill as the xl's to get the chrome grill and painted bumper you had to get the appearance package but now they made the chrome grill and painted bumper standard in 08 Im pissed about that one.

I would recomend getting an xlt in grabber orange but you cant order the grabber orange anymore after like november. They only make so many trucks in it before they switched off to another color they only use for the other half of the year.

The XL 4 bangers are fleet/work trucks........nothing fancy and not pretty to look at. Most people that buy the XL's end up spending a crapload of cash on rims and other accessories to make it look better. Just start of with a XLT, you'll be saving some cash from the start.

Better yet....just upgrade to a Sport model.

 

im not sure abo0ut the differences in the 00 - 08 sport models - im sure a ton- but i LOVE my 00 XLT 4X$ Sport!
