so far i've been lucky with my 2.3 i got the truck for free just had to pay for inspection by the state patrol because the p.o. had passed and nobody in the family wanted the truck so it sat in the ladies back yard since 2008 i got the truck started with 5 gallons of gas and a new used battery. When i got it home i changed the oil, sparkplugs, and the clutch. now 4 months later the tranny gave out it is a manual and this is the first i've heard of one going out. Then i found out the p.o. son-in-law tried towing 4000 pounds of lumber, which explained the twisted up rear bumper oh yes the exhaust was missing from the cat on back when i replaced the exhaust i could here the tranny howl i checked the level it was full so i drove it to seattle and got as far as ritzville when the tranny died no gears forward or reverse it was like driving a chevy oh well back to pull and save to get a nother tranny for 55 bucks i will let you know how things work out
