90mph problem....

I drive 99 standard it had k&n and dynomax muffler in it.
I was trying to test speed. Of couse I know 0-60mph is slow I got 13sec on mine.
As I was speeding to see how fast it can go. On 4th gear at around 4.5krpm it wont pass 90 so I kick it to 5th it reduce to 85. Why is that?

Pretty sure you need a tuner to reset the limiter. like an xcal2

probably at the slightly lower RPM's at 5th gear the engine isn't making as much power. takes a lot to keep the truck going 90.

13 sec to 0-60? That's lame, I like to imagine my truck is significantly faster than that.

Without spending some good money there is no way you will get that thing to 10sec 0-60. Either v8 swap, 2.3T swap or nitrous is the only way, but I wouldn't touch nitrous.

if you read alot of max speed tests they are usually done in 4th gear instead of 5th, because the vehicle is in the power band in 4th gear, when you shift into 5th it falls below that and loses speed

I'm glad I outgrew the need to take a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a concrete block and go out to break the highway laws just to prove...........................................no thing that really mattered.
