Smog check

Not too sure which forum to post this, but I need the WOTB here.
I have a 1996 Ranger XLT SuperCab. with 2.3l, 5 speed and it keeps giving me a P0304 code, cylinder #4 misfire, which may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
•Faulty spark plug or wire - I have replaced
•Faulty coil (pack) - I have replaced
•Faulty oxygen sensor(s) - I have replaced
•Faulty fuel injector - I have replaced
•Burned exhaust valve
•Faulty catalytic converter(s) - I have replaced
•Running out of fuel - I have replaced fuel pump and filter
•Poor compression
•Defective Computer
Now the 'misfire' doesn't happen all the time, it is sporadic, so I figure it can not be mechanical, like with low compression or bad valves, I may be wrong there too though.
It usually happens after using my transmission to slow me, which means coming off higher RPMs, if I run at lower RPM and go to neutral while slowing using only brakes it doesn't misfire as bad, but will still sometimes.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.
