Check for proper pressure at the fuel rail with a fuel pressure tester.
That is the only way to properly diagnose a faulty pump.

The fuel pump itself is not monitored by the PCM directly.
Therefore there is no code for a faulty pump or pump circuit.

i don't have a gauge to check the pressure ,so i took it into a mechanic to have it checked out,he put the gauge on the fuel rail and pressure dropped from fourty lbs to nothing, said bad fuel pump, cel was on indicating three codes,po 401,po402.and p1401,mechanic replaced fuel pump, repaired egr switch, and cleaned egr valve and cleaned some fumes supposably from into the exhaust,,left mechanics shop and about 3 miles later engine light came on..called mechanic when i got home and he said drive the truck fo awhile the light will go off....now i don't know if this mechanic is right about the light going off from what i read on the internet .....does anybody here have any ideas on what to do next.....i'm really baffled..............
