fuel sending unit
i have a 1995 ford ranger 2.3 liter and i was wondering if my fuel gauge sending unit has gone bad. it moves a bunch tells me i have a full tank then it dropped to three-quarters of a tank, then to alittle under half a tank then back up above three-quarters of a tank. any ideas where i go from here.

Hey all,
New member having the same problem and NOT a mechanic :). Can anyone give me some insight on where to check these connections and how to fix them? Other than snipping the wire and putting on a new crimp lug and re-mounting it to the frame I wouldn't have a clue. It is irritating not knowing if I am [I]really[I] at the end of a tank or not. Especially driving 65 miles one way to work.
Thanks

Sorry about that. Wasn't thinking. My truck is '97 Ranger short bed step-side. 2.3l and 5 speed w/OD. It has the XLT badges but I never knew if they were added by the previous owner. 97,000 miles on it when I got it.....185,000 now. Runs great. 28-30mpg at 50/50 intown/out of town driving.

That's OK , many people forget or don't read certain posts that ask that they provide the info in their sig.

Go to the top of the pane , click the search button (on my screen it's the third from the right) and enter "slosh module" for the keywords..
Check through those threads and that might start you in the right direction.
