Icon5 Used Head Question

Im thinking of buying a used head because mine is getting ready to go out. What should i look for to make sure its a good head to buy. i have a 1991 ranger with a 2.3l .

Well it depends if you want a double din or a regular old head unit. If you are going from factory to aftermarket than you will need the install kit, which is the plastic insert and the wiring harness. It is pretty simple just make sure you get the correct wiring harness and match the colors. If you are doing subs than make sure that you install the remote wire which is usually blue. I have a kenwood head unit that is great. Normally with audio equipment name brand is the way to go. More than likely they will last longer and work better.

hes talking about an engine head


OP: i would inspect it really close and take a straight edge with you to see if its warped or not..and if you see a lot of sludge walk away or if its warped or cracked

There is alot of things to look for like all bolt holes are there for ac brackets and everything else. I just did this to my 95 ranger it has 8 plugs. I looked for a head for a week because mine was cracked. I found 1 and it did not have the ac bracket holes in the side of the head and the water ports were different. So i got a reconditioned head. And they made a large and a small valve spring head.

I paid 380 they have some on ebay for 300 but I don't know what kind of parts they put in them...
