Coil over or Shackles?

I have a 92 XLT 2.9 V6. Right now I have it lifted 4" riding on some 31X10.5's. What are the pros and cons/do's and donts of both types of SAS's.

Shackles arent a type of suspension.

If you are referring to leaf springs vs coilovers then that is what I will comment on.

The obvious question is what do you intend to do with the truck and how much money do you have to work with.

Sorry I meant leaf springs. Sky's the limit with the budget really. I'm gonna start collecting parts now and then put them on this summer.

Ok if budget is not convern, I'd probably go with a coilover/link setup.

They tend to ride much better at higher speeds, and are usually more comfortable to drive for long periods of time (I'd commute it just cuz) if the attention is paid to coil rate and valving.

However, you don't want to spend quite as much (though its all expensive lol) leafs are a great option too assuming you wanna crawl more than you wanna prerun at hispeed.

Both involve serious fab, though with leafs it will be markedly less IMHO.

You wanna go full width or keep it legal(ish) and run narrow width's (EB is 59.5" range)?

I'm looking into getting 1/2 to 3/4 ton axles. I've been looking at the leaf SAS's and i think they look better than a coil. I'm lookin just to bog and get me places where I wanna go.
