I'd stay away from hub assembly dana 60's if I were you. It's extremely expensive to replace parts for, and you dont have lockouts.

the passenger side has a disconnect in the tube and a 2 piece shaft. you would have to retube the pass side and find an older set of ball joint knuckles to get rid of the unit bearings. then you have to cut off the coil setup and mount some leaf perches. if you got it for free then it might be worthwhile to do that. if you retube it then just make sure you make it the same length as a factory shaft that way its easier to get a spare.... or you could just sell the front and find an axle out of a 78-79 f250 or 350 AND they already run leafs. that would be my choice. ford d44's are easy to find but 60's are kinda tough

i know about the disconect i think im just gunna clip them or try and trad for a eb front end or just run them the truck had 50xxx miles on it so ther not to bad of shape just kinda tuff decision since im on a really tight buget i know this is off the wall coul i run the whole coil spring set up and make a radis arm set up kinda like the do with the do 30? ive never built a ranger or link system before thats kinda why i was leaning tworads a leaf set up

I'd stay away from anything under a dodge without a spin tech kit. Ford unit bearings are better and you get lockouts. And spider trax makes aftermarket units in 5 bolt. Anyway, I'd just clean it then flip the thing and find an eb like you were saying, nothing wrong with free!

I'd say Dana 44 minimum if you plan to wheel it.

If I remeber correctly 76-78 had disks factory. Ujoints are kinda small in them. Maybe someone with more in depth knowledge on the years can confirm the years they came with disks.

yup, they started with discs in 76. i actually have a eb front and 2 9 inch rears. they need to be rebuilt and i cut the wedges off to do a 3 link but you can buy new ones i think from bronco graveyard. FOR SALE

does it have any goodies? IE: l/s or locker, desirable gears, upgraded shafts etc...

i bought my eb with an open carrier, a trac loc, 2 sets of gears, 2 sets of stock lockouts, a pair of stock shafts, new rotors, and other misc. parts for 250. and both my small bearing and big bearing 9's for 250 each. one had 3.50's and the other 4.11's

So you want him to ditch a working set of 1 tons for a 40 year old D44...I'm sorry weak or not the dodge unit bearing D60 is more than strong enough for 38s. The CAD can be deleted and there is a spinfree kit for the unit bearing hubs. I personally think they will be fine seeing how they survive with a 1200lbs cummins sitting above them.

Lol so basically this thread was a waste of time.

Anyways, EB44 is better than Ddoge D60. Just cause it's easy as heck to install on a ranger.

Well that's good to know let me go trade my ford D60 for a EB D44. Bet it will hold up great to 38.5x15.5s.
