Yota steering help

Hey guys i've tried searching but I find nothing specific on my problem.

So im almost done with the sas, just working on the steering which is all hooked up and works, but when I turn the wheel it'll lock up for a second then let go, or continue to turn on you even though you stopped turning the wheel. I dont really know where to start. Its an early 90s yota box out of a 4runner.

Any ideas?

check the lines from the pump to the steering box and make sure they are hooked up correctly. Sounds like you are trying to push the fluid through the wrong way.

yeah it ended up going away, just had too much pressure in it. But I was wondering if there was a way to stiffen up the steering like a normal car (haha even though it is far from normal). I can drive the truck with just one finger. Is that a "normal" thing?
