33's with as little possible lift.

Hi all,

Right now im trying to get my truck from its stock height and 29's (245/75/R16) to a little bit of a taller and widerstance. I would do a bodylift at the drop of a hat but really dont want to have to cut and reweld my hitch and have just an eiere feeling about BLs. Is there any other lift out there for the front? Yes, just the front, I can do AAL and shackles in the back to get plenty of lift but only have torison bars in the front! Thanks guys!

Spence

A friend of mine did 33s stock without doing a shackle or torsion bar crank.

Ford Ranger Forums - The Ultimate Ford Ranger Resource - BB2's Album: FX5 - Picture

its a tight fit but from what I remember it didnt rub unless it was full lock. I would just do a shackle in the back and then use the bars to match it. Dont forget to get an alignment done after you crank them

I maxed out the Tbars this week and put 32"s on with no problem at all. There is more room to spare so 33"s will fit I think. I would like to get 35"s but there would be some rubbing somewhere.

Has anyone put 35"s on with just a Tbar lift?

Search Bwymike. He has 35s and just keys with a 3 inch block. But he also has a plate bumper so he has a little extra room up front.

Great. That gives me hope for mine. It's a lot of cash to spend if they don't fit. But I think 35"s will be OK with a little work!

Tbar crank would get you enough room for 33's but a 1" body lift would be perfect.

Thanks for all the responses, I really don't want to do a BL of anysort, just the hassle of it of what ive heard... So there are no options for me to lift the front??? Nothing at all? I have a 4x4 if that plays into it at all!

Would this work for me!? http://www.truxxx.com/product/ford Part number 101050... It says in the title it is compatible with a 4x4, but then in the description it says 4x2 vehicles?

prekeys are dumb. Just crank your bars. Those keys put way to much torque on the bars when cranked hard and wear things out. If you dont get what you want out of cranking yours bars as is then maybe look into lower mileage bars or just new ones

You could convert to coil overs and set the preload higher. But no matter what you are limited by cv angle. And also the added wear and tear on suspension components.

are you a female? People weary of doing a body lift are vaginas. its not hard, i did mine myself and i have probably pulled more weight with my front hitch than you have with your rear.

hahah, alright big guy. I have no problem doing it, what i am weary about is my hitch hanging down...It's going to look horrible especially since i have a factory hitch. I was looking for a way around it but doesnt look like it will be happening. and really don't want to have to go the route of cuting and re welding it.

I get what you are saying. I dont like the look of body lifts on most trucks. Some of them pull it off but most looked hacked and that just turns me away. The hitch problem isnt a huge deal but I guess if you didnt have the means to cut and reweld it then it would be an issue

Max your bars, shackle, aal or block in the rear, and the 33's should fit fine...might have to trim a bit.

If you want 35's you'll have to BL. I don't like the look of body lifts on most trucks, but for some reason the Rangers pull it off. Keep some step sides on there with gap guards and most people wouldn't notice its a BL. I've never cut and re-welded a hitch before, but from what i've read it isn't a big deal.

Also after I did the one inch body lift I wished i would have went ahead and did the three inch. The one inch is just enough lift for 33s but every now and then when flexing the front tires rub.

I have the three inch body lift to install just need to find time to put it on between school and working full time.

Could I go to a shop and have it cut and welded? Also, if that is done... how is the structural integrity of the hitch? Could i tow up to 5600 LBS again like it was rated for? Or have a tongue weight of 3000LBS like it was rated for?

Is there any reason concerning having 33's with small amount of lift why you dont have a front bumper? or is that some other reason?
